VIRTUAL STUDIO VISIT with Libby Odai

NEW FORMS OF TOGETHERNESS - Virtual studio visit

With visual artist Libby Odai moderated by curator Sabrina Henry (CCA Glasgow).

Tuesday 23 March 2021, 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Libby Odai is one of the three artists selected for our digital residency programme 'New Forms of Togetherness', in partnership with the Alliance Française Glasgow and the Institut Français d'Ecosse.

During the virtual studio visit, Libby Odai will introduce her artistic practice and processes. She will give an insight into the digital residency 'New Forms of Togetherness' in conversation with Sabrina Henry (assistant curator at CCA Glasgow).

'New Forms of Togetherness' is a digital residency that will contribute to the interdisciplinary discourse between artists and partners around the topic of Artificial Intelligence. The remote residency will allow the artists to continue to work from their own space with our partners’ digital support: the National Library of Scotland, the Social Brain in Action Lab and NEoN Digital Arts. A dialogue will be created around artificial intelligence between the artists, the partners and an online audience.

The project aims to contribute to the discussion around the use of Artificial Intelligence from an interdisciplinary perspective and make the discourse around AI technology accessible to a wider public. Artists will be working collaboratively, and they are asked to deliver their final outcome within the year 2021.

Libby Odai is a creative technologist based in Glasgow that has a background in developing and producing sculpture and performance with digital elements. She has previously produced digital works shown at Dancebase Edinburgh, the University of Edinburgh, Plat:form and the Swap Market. Her programming work focuses on bridging the gap between digital concepts and the physical world, making technology more accessible. By blending traditional arts such as dance and crochet with high tech components, she hopes to bring tech to new diverse audiences.

Sabrina Henry is a curator, costume designer and textile artist. She works as assistant curator at CCA Glasgow as part of the exhibitions, talks and events programmes. In her practice, she works with artists of various disciplines to connect pre-colonial Black Atlantic traditions with the British experience as a way to re-imagine the future.

Please register for a ticket in advance. This event will take place on Zoom.

The next virtual visit studio will be with French artist Marion Carré on the 28th April, 2021.
