‘Wha’s Dundee’

A fascinating showcase of multicultural Dundee and the work of the Wha’s Dundee Digital Heritage Project.

We are delighted to be premiering a number of short film pieces created during the project which celebrate the talent and diversity of our city.

Wha’s Dundee is a city-wide multicultural and cross-generational project, co-ordinated by Nilupul Foundation, led by young people in Dundee, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Wha’s Dundee team have been learning film making skills, recording and editing interviews and learning about cultural diversity, heritage and digital archiving to help them gather together a store of personal histories which are at the heart of a new documentary film and Digital Media Archive.

The project works to celebrate and preserve the unique and diverse migratory history of Dundee’s population, through digital archiving, and investigates and documents just what it means to be ‘Dundonian’ in 2013.
Involving extensive community partnership work The team work with Dundee City Council, The Shore, Bharatiya Ashram, Dundee International Women’s Centre, Hot Chocolate Trust and many more local community organisations to bring together people of different cultures and generations in a celebration of Dundee’s cultural diversity.

At a time when Dundee is bidding for City Of Culture and Scotland’s preparing for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, ‘Wha’s Dundee’ is a great showcase for the city’s unique cultural heritage.
